Review - La Galana Torpedo Clásica - 89/100

The La Galana Torpedo are an oddity amongst many other cigars, as they are manufactured in Cologne, Germany. To my knowledge, the La Galana factory is one of the very few in Europe nowadays. The factory is owned and run by Annette Meisl, a friendly and a beautiful lady with a burning passion for cigars.

What comes to the Torpedo Clasíca cigar itself, it is a great smoke, starting from the look and feel... The cigar has a rustic wrapper with some veins and a shine, which reminds me of polished mahogany. It feels firm in hand and creates expectations with an earthy and woody fragrance unlit.

Spicy start to the flavor, showing off powerful tobacco and dark earthy tones, which smooth down going to the second third. Some distant whispers of heated wood and mushrooms. Like sitting on the porch after a sauna, watching the rain play on the leaves and trunks of late summer's trees. Finishes off with bitter liquorice.

A heavy, full bodied cigar with a somewhat linear profile, but a great smoke nonetheless. Some resemblance to a few old school Cuban cigars, although made from Nicaraguan tobacco. Goes well every time of the day, but really comes to life after a heavy and rich-flavored dinner or with a sweet drink in hand...

Review - Room 101 Robusto 305 - 92/100

The Room 101 cigars is a joint effort from the Owner and designer of Room 101 Silver - Matt Booth - and Camacho Cigars. two great concepts joining forces to create something extraordinary.

The 101 robusto "305" is an easy cigar to approach. It is a beautiful concept combining a great looking cigar with two beautiful bands. The wrapper is silky and smooth with a dark brown gloss. A few veins do not bother too much and the cigar feels good in hand. The burn is occasionally a little of and the draw might be a little too loose, but nothing of any signifigance.

This medium bodied cigar starts a little dry as herbs, gras and leather take the lead. Half way through it opens up to reveal some heavy chocolate and espresso. In the generous amount of smoke you can really get a good taste of the whole flavor profile of the blend.

A Luscious Smoke.

POINTS: 92/100 points

EPC Maduro

One of my new favorite cigars released this year is the EP Carillo Maduro. Since re-entering the industry after parting ways with General, Erenesto has made hit after hit. In my opinion every blend he has released has been excellent and the EPC Maduro is exceptionally good.

The EPC Maduro is medium to full bodied and very complex. The cigar has loads of flavor with notes of coffee and semi-sweet chocolate that coat the palate along with a very nice, subtle cedar spiciness. This is a classic cigar in every aspect, from its flavor to its rustic looking wrapper, and hands down one of the best cigars released at the IPCPR. Enjoy EPC Maduro today, you won't regret it.

Cohiba Siglo II

The Cohiba Siglo II is yet another excellent cigar from the well respected Cohiba range. The Siglo II is said to be the best Mareva cigar on the market today. It has a faultless construction, perfect draw and an even burn right down to the band.

It is a lighter smoke than the larger Siglo's but still has a rich and complex flavour that just gets richer as it burns! Flavours include dark chocolate, strong coffee, earth, wood and spices. It is smooth and creamy with a delicious aroma.

Light up one of these in the garden on a warm summer evening with fine single malt and you will be in absolute heaven. All the classic Cohiba aromas and flavours in a great size and at a great price.

A Nice Cigar 8/10

I found this cigar rich and creamy, but quite mild. It is though very flavorful with many different tastes appearing as it burns down. I tasted, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, spices and of course coffee and dark chocolate. All the good characteristcs of a good cuban cigar.

If you like the taste of the Cohiba Siglo range but find the larger ring sizes too strong I can recommend the Siglo II. Do Cohiba make a bad cigar?

Lovely Cigar 8/10

This is one of my favourite smokes especially after lunch on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The flavours are exquisite, the burn is always good and best off all is that I've never had a bad one and I've been through several boxes! If you prefer something a little stronger then the Cohiba Robustos has the same flavours but with more power.
